The UMKC men’s basketball team ended a four-game losing streak with a 75-62 road win at Valparaiso. Quinton Day led the ‘Roos in scoring with 22 points in their Mid-Continent Conference opener. Day was 5-of-14 from the floor, but hit 3-of-6 three pointers and 9-of-11 free throws.

Tim Blackwell scored 14 for UMKC and hit all six of his free throws. Kalu Guasco scored 12 for the ‘Roos and Dee Ayuba added 11.

UMKC took a 34-29 lead into the locker room at half time and continued to lead in the second half. With the score 46-43 UMKC, they went on an 11-0 run to put the game away.

With the win UMKC improved to 4-5 on the season, while Valpo fell to 5-4.
