A new kind of problem is being presented to those who respond to traffic crashes involving a new kind of vehicles. The gas-electric hybrids are getting attention from the state Fire Rescue Training Instistute. Director Gary Wilson says firefighters have to know where some high voltage lines are in those vehicles. And, sometimes they can’t tell with a quick glance if they’re dealing with a hybrid. He says the Institute is teaching firefighters to deal with vehicles that can have a lot of corrosive battery fluids and as much as 650-volts of electricity in some places.
