Senator Kit Bond has recently returned from a tour of Southeast Asia – a place he calls the second front for the war on terror. His travels took him to Muslim-stronghold areas of the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia where he reviewed U.S. efforts to combat terrorism there. Bond believes progress is being made, but more needs to be done. In 2002, Bali, an island resort in that part of the world, was the home of a terrorist attack that killed more than 200 tourists. Another 23 people died when terrorists hit that same tourist area again earlier this year.
