Coming off a successful road trip, it looked as though the St. Louis Blues were ready to shine on home ice against the Dallas Stars. Instead, it was the Stars who were bright on this night after Christmas as they blasted the Blues 6-1 before a crowd of more than 16,000. Mike Modano and Stu Barnes each scored twice for Dallas and Stars’ Goalie Johan Hedberg had two assists. The Blues avoided being shut out when Dennis Wideman scored his third goal of the year from Doug Weight and Barrett Jackman at the 16:08 mark of the 3rd Period. The Blues’ loss, coupled with the Columbus Blue Jackets’ 4-3 win against the Chicago Black Hawks puts Columbus 1 Point ahead of the Blues in the NHL’s Central Division. The Blues are dead last in the Central – dead last in the NHL with 20 Points.
