Christmas weekend is about to begin, and many Missourians will be hitting the roads. The State Highway Patrol considers 6 o’clock Friday evening as the start of the Christmas weekend, and the weekend runs through Monday night at 11:59. The Patrol’s Captain Chris Ricks says the Christmas holiday period is different from holidays like New Year’s and the Fourth of July in that it’s not a drinking holiday, but there are still some people who get behind the wheel when they shouldn’t be driving. Eight people were killed and 245 injured on Missouri’s roadways last year during the Christmas counting period.
