One of the state’s leading business groups has unveiled its legislative priorities for the 2006 legislative session. Associated Industries of Missouri President Gary Marble says that agenda includes tax reform, unemployment insurance reform, economic development, and environmental regulatory reform. Marble says that while a lot was accomplished last year with such issues as litigation reform and workers’ compensation reform, there is still more work to be done to make the state as business-friendly as possible. AIM believes the fiscal needs of the state can be met through economic expansion and job growth instead of through increased taxes on employers.
