The new kid on Missouri’s labor block is almost six months old, and it’s starting to find its footing. The Change to Win coalition – formed when the Service Employees International Union, the Teamsters, and other unions bolted the AFL-CIO – is starting to make its mark. Barbara Black, Vice President of the SEIU’s Missouri State Council, says the coalition is doing a good job for Missouri’s working families. Jim Kistler with Associated Industries of Missouri agrees the coalition has been busy trying to organize in non-unionized companies. Kistler says businesses that don’t want to become unionized have options – but they must make sure they are on firm legal ground in whatever actions they take.
