FBI investigators are joining with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Drug and Crime Control Division to look into what went wrong at the Taum Sauk Reservoir in southeast Missouri. A wall of the mountain-top reservoir collapsed and released one billion gallons of water on the area below. Three children were injured and are in a hospital after the resulting flood. The Patrol’s Captain Chris Ricks says the federal assets should help in the investigation. Ricks says there’s nothing to indicate any criminal activity led to the collapse, but authorities want to make sure that criminal activity is not the cause.
