The Public Service Commission gives a quick refusal to utilities who want the the Commission to reconsider its loosening of the Cold Weather Rule. The PSC has denied a request by gas utilities to have another hearing on the Commisison’s Cold Weather Rule modification. On Tuesday, the Commission adopted changes making it easier for people cut off from their utilities to get hooked back up and eased the repayment standards. Utilities complain the new rule will only increase consumers’ debts that they already carry. PSC Chairman Jeff Davis says high gas costs will mean much higher heating costs, and the Commission has to act now. He expects the utilities to act quickly too, launching legal action.
