An organization that pushes transportation interests in Missouri knows it has to convince the public to part with additional tax money for roads, bridges, and other forms of transportation in a few years. All it has to do is figure out what would be a tax package that would produce enough money to meet state needs – and would find favor with voters. President Rod Reid of the Missouri Transportation and Development Council says highway interests have to get busy on selling a financing package to the public. He says a plan has to be ready within three years, so voters can approve it before the funding from last year’s passage of Amendment 3 runs out in 2010.
