The number of Missourians working for U.S. subsidiaries of companies headquartered abroad is on the rise. According to U.S. Commerce Department statistics, more than 87,000 Missourians fit into that category. Todd Malan is the President of the Washington-based Organization for International Investment, which represents the interests of these companies. He says these insourced jobs are an important part of Missouri’s economy. Statistics show about 46 percent of the insourced jobs in Missouri are in the manufacturing sector, with the average national salary in the $60,000 range.
