The Blues waived goaltender Patrick Lalime on Monday, ending a disappointing stretch and loss-filled stretch. Lalime was expected to provide experience in goal, but struggled to a 3-11-4 record this season. His 3.97 goals against average was 38th out of 40 NHL goaltenders and his .866 save percentage was 39th.

Lalime can now be claimed by any team in the NHL. If he clears waivers, the Blues have the option of cutting him altogether or re-assigning him to their affiliate in Peoria.

Curtis Sanford, who’s 2-5 with a 3.35 goals against average, is now the starter. His back-up is Jason Bacashihua, who has never started a game in the NHL.
