A woman and her son have pleaded guilty in St. Joseph to a murder that happened 24 years ago. Shirley Milbourn, who is now 67, admits she shot Rhonda Burgess in November of 1981. Her son, Michael, now 44, pleaded guilty to abandoning a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Michael Milbourn and Burgess had been married for about a year before they got a divorce in January of 1981. She disappeared later that year and police closed their investigation of the disappearance in 1982. But a tip from a Milbourn family member in May led to the discovery of her remains.
