Missouri St. University will have some big decisions to make very soon. A committee looking at the viability of the school’s 21 sports has determined that some of them have to go. Three proposals have been put on the table and one thing holds true in all three: men’s indoor and outdoor track and men’s cross country will not be back. The three options proposed by the Missouri State University Intercollegiate Athletics Priority committee which listed the sports that should be cut:

Scenario 1:

• Men’s Indoor Track
• Men’s Outdoor Track
• Men’s Cross Country
• Men’s Tennis

Scenario 2:

• Men’s Indoor Track
• Men’s Outdoor Track
• Men’s Cross Country

Scenario 3*:

• Men’s Indoor Track
• Men’s Outdoor Track
• Men’s Cross Country
• Men’s Tennis
• Women’s Tennis

Missouri St. president Dr. Michael Nietzel will propose to the Board of Governors next week that the university go with scenario three. It is estimated that cutting the five sports will save the university $350,000 per year. It will affect 39 athletes currently on scholarship. MSU will allow all of the athletes to remain on scholarship at the school.
