The Royals are apparently talking to the Mets about a trade for starting pitcher Kris Benson. The Mets apparently have interest in closer Mike MacDougal, who saved 27 games for Kansas City last season and was their lone All-Star selection. The talks have also involved Royals pitcher Jeremy Affeldt, as well.
Benson, who was the number one overall pick in the 1996 draft, was 10-8 and had an ERA of 4.13 with the Mets in 2005. He’s 57-61 in his career with a 4.25 ERA.
