Congressman Ike Skelton is in a German hospital recovering from a military vehicle accident near Baghdad. The Arab news agency al-Jazeera says Skelton and two other Representatives were in a vehicle that had to swerve to avoid an oncoming tanker truck, and overturned. Fellow Congressman Jim Marshall of Georgia says he held onto Skelton when the vehicle rolled over because Skelton has limited use of his arms as a result of childhood polio. Skelton’s Chief of Staff says the Congressman complained of neck pain but was walking around after the wreck. Skelton was due to fly back to Washington today after a Thanksgiving assessment tour of Afghanistan and Iraq.
