The Missouri State University-West Plains volleyball team got off to a quick start at the National Junior College Athletic Association Volleyball Tournament, which they’re hosting. The fourth-seeded Grizzlies swept 13th-seeded Midland College (Tx.) 30-27, 30-21, 31-29. With the win, MSU-WP advanced to the field of eight today and face fifth-seeded Hutchinson Community College (Ks.). With the win, the Grizzlies improved to 38-8.

All of the top-seeded teams advanced to the quarterfinals, including No. 1 College of Southern Idaho, which crushed Cape Fear Community College (N.C.) 30-8, 30-11, 30-11. Defending champion Miami-Dade, which is the third-seed, bested Sheridan College (Wy.) 30-16, 30-23, 30-16.
The field will be whittled down from eight teams to two on Tuesday, with the championship scheduled for 6:30 Wednesday night.
