Westminster College plans an elabortate celebration of the 60th anniversary of Winston Churchill’s famous Iron Curtain speech. A Fulton woman remembers attending the speech on March 5th, 1946. Helen Danuser got an invitation, because her father taught at Westminster and says she and her sister were very exicted to be in the audience. Danuser says she was so caught up in being at an event of such magnitude and being in the presence of such a renowned world leader that the famous phrase “Iron Curtain” slipped passed her. She says it didn’t really connect with her until she read about the speech in the newspaper the next day. She says, upon reading it, she understood how significant a speech she had heard.
