Priest Holmes won’t play the rest of the 2005 season, that much is known. However his future in the NFL, is still up in the air. Holmes addressed his injury and his future with the media yesterday. It was the first time he’s spoken on the issue since being knocked out of an October 30 game in San Diego.

On Thursday Holmes said that he has pressure on his spine, which contradicts a report by KSHB TV in Kansas City. The TV station cited sources who said Holmes had a lump on his spine.

Holmes will have two more tests and meetings with doctors over the next 60 days and after that, he will make a decision on whether or not he’ll play in 2006.

He was placed injured reserve last week, ending his season with an injury for the third time in the last four seasons. Despite his health troubles, Holmes is the Chiefs all-time leader in rushing and touchdowns.
