A Kansas Citian who says he had “yeast in his veins”, who became known as a doughnut entrepreneur, has died at the age of 89. Ray LaMar opened LaMar’s Donuts in a converted gas station in 1960. In time, his shop produced 75 different kinds of doughnuts. TV talk show host Jay Leno called him “the undisputed doughnut king of the midwest”. LaMar sold his company in 1997. The new company plans to have 1,200 LaMar’s Donuts stores open within ten years.
