The losing streak reached double-digits for the Blues on Thursday night with a 4-2 to the Blackhawks at home. Mark Rycroft put St. Louis on top at the 3:07 mark of the first period with his second goal of the season, but it didn’t take Chicago long to erase that advantage. 56 seconds later Mark Bell beat Blues goaltender Patrick Lalime on a power-play goal to tie it at 1-1.

Jim Vandermeer gave the Blackhawks the lead at the 10:45 mark of the first, but it wasn’t necessarily his skill as a scorer that led to the goal. His shot was accidentally knocked in by Rycroft.

Just 44 seconds into the second period, Doug Weight scored on a power-play goal, assisted by Petr Cajanek and Scott Young to tie it back up at 2-2. But Chicago, once again bounced back, when Vandermeer scored again to hand the lead back to the Blackhawks at the 9:01 mark of the second and they never trailed again.

Mark Cullen’s first goal of the year came in the third period and offered the Blackhawks insurance.
