High School Football Playoff Preview:
There are three undefeated teams in Class 4, but only one, if any, will make it out of the quarterfinals. Webb City (9-0) is on the road at Ozark (10-0), while top-ranked Camdenton (10-0) hosts Republic (9-0). The winners of those games meet in the quarters. Northeast Kansas City (3-7) didn’t win a single game until the districts and snuck into the post season. They’ll host St. Joseph Benton (7-2).
Top ranked MICDS (10-0) will begin the defense of their 2004 Class 3 championships at Herculaneum (7-3). The other undefeated teams in Class 3 are Cassville (10-0), which travels to Bolivar (9-1) and Odessa (10-0) which visits Pleasant Hill (8-2). There are two games featuring four teams that are all 9-1: Harrisonville at Osage and Platte Co. at St. Pius X (KC).
The two teams in the 2004 Class 2 title game are in action and both are unbeaten. Top ranked Blair Oaks (10-0) faces Montgomery County (9-1) on the road and second ranked Cameron (10-0) will host Brookfield (8-2). The other undefeated teams are Clark County (10-0) which will be at home against Centralia (6-4) and Lawson (10-0), which hosts Lafayette Co. (4-6). Lafayette Co. is one of three teams in the Class 3 post season without a winning record. There are two are: Wright City (5-5) and Caruthersville (5-5).
In Class 1 there are a number of teams that could end their season with just one or two losses. 10 of the 16 teams are either undefeated or have just one loss. Two of those teams, Skyline and Adrian are undefeated. Skyline (10-0) will face Greenfield (9-1) on the road, while Adrian (9-0) hosts Wellington-Napoleon.
