Missouri’s biggest school district has fired its superintendent after five years. The Kansas City School Board has voted not to renew the contract of Superintendent Bernard Taylor, who lasted longer than several of his predecessors. Taylor’s contract runs through next June 30th. School Board members say dropout rates are still too high, academic achievement is improved but not enough, and enrollment continues to decline. Taylor was not at the meeting.
