A St. Charles man is facing federal charges of trying to hire a hitman to kill a former State Representative. Virgil Jackson, a bail bondsman, is accused of trying have Gerald Cox killed. Cox is also a rival in the bail business. Authorities allege Jackson provided a gun and bullets to an undercover agent posing as a hitman and even gave instructions on how to kill Cox. U.S. Marshalls are now holding Jackson.
