Kansas City’s Negro Leagues Baseball Museum wants a special federal designation that could help in marketing, fundraising, and in keeping other cities from trying to duplicate what’s in Kansas City. Senator Jim Talent and Congressman Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City expect to introduce legislation in Washington designating the museum as the official national museum for Negro League baseball. A spokesman for the Museum says the designation will give the museum an advantage as it competes for funds with other Negro baseball projects.
