Executions usually evoke a lot of interest and outcry from those in favor of and against the death penalty. But the scheduled execution of Marlin Gray, just after midnight Wednesday morning, has prompted more than the average share of calls to the Governor’s office. Jessica Robinson with Governor’s office attributes some of the added publicity to the fact Gray was recently interviewed on a St. Louis radio show, with the host urging listeners to call the Governor’s Office to request clemency. Gray is scheduled to die for his role in the 1991 deaths of two women who were raped and pushed off the Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis into the Mississippi River.
