Russell, Majors, and Waddell were the names behind the legendary Pony Express. The firm was bankrupt before it ever started operating the Pony, then lost several million in the venture. Two of the partners died within a few years of its beginning, broken men. The third lived into the twentieth century and became somewhat revered.
