A natural gas leak is the suspected cause of a fatal pork plant explosion that rocked the southern part of St. Joseph, killing one construction worker and injuring 14 others. Three workers remain in critical condition. The blast killed 24-year-old Andrew Bauer of St. Joseph, a heavy equipment operator. The explosion occurred at the Triumph Foods plant in south St. Joseph. About 15 crews of contract workers were making finishing touches on the factory, set to open in a few weeks. Investigators suspect a torch likely set off a natural gas leak, causing the fatal explosion.
