The good news for the Blues is that they’ve already gotten two games with the Red Wings out of the way. The bad news for the team is that they’re now 0-2. St. Louis fell 4-3 to the Red Wings to wrap hope a season-opening home and home series.

Blues defenseman Andy Roach scored on a power play at the 8:29 mark of the first period. It was the first goal of his career. St. Louis held a 1-0 edge until the 13:26 mark when Robert Lang scored his second goal of the season. Then, Mikael Samuelsson beat Blues goaltender Patrick Lalime on a power play 1:28 later to make it 2-1 Detroit.

The Red Wings added to the lead with two goals late in the second period from Jiri Fischer and Brendan Shanahan on a power play.

The Blues mounted an impressive comeback early in the third period when Doug Weight
scored on a power play at the 5:06 mark. 64 seconds later Dean McAmmond cut the lead to 4-3. That’s as close as the Blues got.

Unlike Wednesday, when the Blues were held to just 14 shots on goal, they were able to attack the net with 26 shots.
