Over the last couple of years, good news has been sparse for the University of Missouri basketball program. But on Tuesday, Tiger fans got some good news. One of the top junior college prospects in the nation verbally committed to MU. Ty Morrison told the recruiting website PowerMizzou.com that he will sign a letter of intent in November.
Morrison, 6-7 220, helped Redlands Community College (Ok) to a 27-4 record in 2004-2005 by averaging 10 points and five rebounds per game. That team was led by Ohio St. signee Sylvester Mayes. According to Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com, Redlands has five or six potential Division I signees on the squad, so Morrison’s numbers could be deflated a little, but he is expected to score 18-20 points per game and average in double figures in rebounds.
Morrison can shoot from the outside, but is expected to be more of an inside presence at MU. In high school he was a four-time All-State selection at Trevor Browne High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He was the state’s player of the year as a senior.
Morrison chose Missouri over Oregon and Washington.
