A report issued by the National Women’s Law Center finds Missouri scores the lowest among states in child-care subsidies. The Center reports no other state has stricter income guidelines than Missouri in determining whether parents qualify for subsidized child care. Missouri guidelines prevent a family with an annual income of under $20,000 from getting subsidies. In Illinois, a family of three could earn up to $29,000 and receive subsidized child care. The Center also ranks Missouri last in child-care provider pay.
