The economic impact of last April’s NCAA men’s Basketball Tournament in St. Louis has been put at $41.4-Million. But the study done for the St. Louis Sports Commission has a critic who says the number is greatly inflated. An economist at Webster University calculates the figure. But another economist, at Lake Forest College near Chicago, says studies such as that one do not account on the disruptions to the local economy events such as the Final Four cause. He suggests the figure should be one-tenth as large and maybe less.
