It’s been quiet in the House so far this special legislative session, but that is about to change. House leadership decided to call only technical sessions in the first week, a move keeping the vast majority of members at home and keeping costs down. The House returns Tuesday to clean up mistakes made in bills passed during the regular session and to consider a bill keeping personal information about public officials off the Internet. Anti-abortion legislation should hit the House floor Wednesday. House Speaker Rod Jetton says most members seem content to focus on parental consent, not stem cells. Senator John Loudon of Chesterfield sponsors the bill giving parents the right to sue someone helping their daughter avoid Missouri’s parental consent law and urges a House committee to push through the bill unchanged. Otherwise, it will return to the Senate and face more prolonged debate.
