A proposed new law that lets parents sue anybody who urges a minor child to go to some other state for an abortion, or helps them get there, gets past a small band of opponents in the Senate and moves to the Missouri House. Sponsor John Loudon of Chesterfield says actions by an Illinois abortion clinic to draw minors there have triggered the bill. That clinic does not have to notify parents their minor child is at the clinic. Loudon says they also don’t have to report the age or name of the father. A half-dozen opponents held up passage for about eight hours before letting the bill reach a final vote in the Senate.
