State Treasurer Sarah Steelman is calling for the Missouri Savings for Tuition – or MO$T – program to be expanded in this state. She made the remarks during a ceremony at the Capitol designating September as College Savings Month in Missouri. During that ceremony, Governor Matt Blunt signed up his six-month old son, Branch for a MO$T plan. Steelman has put out a bid for proposal for a new program administrator with more flexibility in what investors can put their money into. Steelman says she has the ability in her office to ask for the changes without having to have lawmakers approve the changes. By the way, when Blunt was asked whether his son would go to Missouri or Missouri State, he said he’d leave that up to Branch. But, the Governor did say he was teaching the boy Navy cheers. The Governor’s alma mater is the U.S. Naval Academy.
