About 1,500 displaced Americans from the hurricane devastated areas of the Gulf Coast are already being housed in a number of Missouri locations – and many more are headed our way. Missouri National Guard Adjutant General King Sidwell believes that when all is said and done there will be 4,000 evacuees in the Show-Me State. Sidwell expects about 85 percent of those ending up in Missouri will become permanent residents of the state. As for the costs associated with such a high number of refugees, FEMA – the Federal Emergency Management Agency – is helping out with housing, food, clothing, and medical care.
