Missourians will be hitting the roads later today, headed for their Labor Day Weekend destinations. Many of those traveling will find work zones along the way. Melissa Black with the State Transportation Department says all the new construction this year is the product of money from Amendment Three and increased federal highway dollars. Much of that work is taking place on the routes that would be traditionally traveled the most this holiday weekend. Black says MoDOT’s web site shows the major projects currently underway, so you can try to avoid those areas. But she says if you can’t, then at least slow down to posted limits in those work zones, be more cautious, and of course, buckle up.
