The final home stand of the Springfield Cardinals’ inaugural season got off with bang. Travis Hanson drilled a two run double in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cardinals a 5-4 win over the Arkansas Travelers.
The hit spoiled a comeback by the Travelers, who got solo home runs from Kendry Morales and Mike Eylward off Sprinfield reliever Cory Doyne to take a 4-3 lead. Doyne proved to be the winning pitcher.
The other three runs Springfield scored came in the first inning when Gabe Johnson drove two with a single. Tyler Parker followed up with an RBI single to make it 3-0.
