The Governor’s Task Force on Eminent Domain has held its third meeting to address concerns stemming from the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a Connecticut case. That ruling extends the ability of governments to seize private property. The first meeting was an information session for panel members, the second was a chance for the public to be heard. Representative Steve Hobbs of Mexico, who chaired this gathering, says this meeting saw members break up into groups to discuss four sub-sets of issues. e four sub-sets are urban & suburban, rural, legislative, and procedural issues. A final report is due to the Governor by year’s end.
