Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has found himself in a bit of a pickle – defending the state in a federal lawsuit in which he might better identify with the plaintiffs’ side. The state has been sued in federal court over upcoming cuts to its adoption subsidies. Nixon sings the praises of the subsidies, calling the program particularly good for the money spent on it, although he admits it’s easy to be an armchair quarterback when talking about what should be in the budget. Nixon promises his personal viewpoint won’t keep him from aggressively defending the state’s position. He’ll get the chance when it goes back into court on September 8th.
