The Rams dropped to 1-1 in exhibition play on Sunday with a 36-21 loss to the Charges in San Diego. The Chargers took a 17-0 lead, before Marc Bulger connected with Kevin Curtis in the second quarter to cap a 13-play, 70-yard drive.

Bulger struck Torry Holt for a 41-yard touchdown pass on the next drive and the Rams trailed 17-14. The Rams then attempted an on-side kick, but it failed and the Chargers converted a field goal later in the drive to take a 20-14 lead with 1:06 to go in the half.

Then, the Rams decided to try their two-minute offense. On their third play, Drayton Florence picked off Bulger’s pass to Marshall Faulk and ran it 44 yards for a touchdown. With the extra point, the Chargers led 27-14 at the half.

San Diego opened the second half where they left off. The Chargers went on an 11-play 72-yard drive that was capped with a two-yard touchdown run from Andrew Pinnock.

On the Rams’ ensuing drive, Arlen Harris was tackled in the end zone for another Charger score and San Diego led 36-14.

The only highlight for St. Louis the rest of the way was a 78-yard pass from former Harvard quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to Kevin Curtis late in the fourth quarter. Curtis finished with four catches for 127 yards and two TD’s.

Stephen Jackson had seven carries for 51 yards, Arlen Harris had 40 yards on ten carries, while Marshall Faulk ran twice for seven yards.

Bulger finished the game 15-of-21 for 181 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
