The Blues will have defenseman Eric Brewer under contract through the 2005-2006 season, but anything past that will be a question mark until at least after the new year. Brewer accepted a $2 million qualifying offer from the team, which will put him under contract this season. Brewer, who was sent to St. Louis from Edmonton in the Chris Pronger deal, was offered a three-year deal by the Blues, but declined.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, players and teams cannot discuss new contracts until after January 1 if the player accepts a qualifying offer. Had Brewer turned down the offer, a long term deal could have been discussed.

The Blues also came to terms with center Peter Sejna and right winger Jamal Mayers agreed to a two-year deal, which will pay him $900,000 per season.
