Both of Missouri’s NFL teams will kick off their preseason schedules tonight. The Chiefs open on the road at Minnesota. Kansas City will be without Kendrell Bell. Head coach Dick Vermeil said Thursday he’ll hold the Pro-Bowl linebacker out of tonight’s game after Bell missed most of last year with a groin injury. Vermeil says the move is precautionary. The Rams, meanwhile, host the Chicago Bears in their exhibition opener. St. Louis received some bad news on Thursday. Cornerback Jerametrius Butler may need season-ending surgery. Butler was originally diagnosed with a bruised knee. Further examination showed that Bulter has a torn posterior cruciate ligament. Butler is still deciding between strengthening the knee and playing through the injury, or having the season-ending surgery.
