Governor Matt Blunt has asked for a federal agricultural disaster declaration in 109 of 114 counties in the state because of the continued drought. And, Judy Grundler with the State Agriculture Department says since the counties requested already meet the criteria, approval, is pretty much guaranteed and just a formality at this point. She says farmers in affected areas need to contact their local Farm Service Agency Office. Low-interest loans and possibly some tax breaks are the most likely forms of aid headed to the state.
