Researchers are providing us with more information on autism – a developmental disorder affecting communication and social interaction adversely affecting a child’s educational performance. And, what they’re learning could be of great benefit to Missouri educators who say they are dealing with a growing problem in our schools. Doctor Janet Farmer, Director of the University of Missouri’s Autism Center, says it’s possible the number of cases of autism isn’t really on the rise, perhaps we’re now just more likely to identify the children as autistic. Doctor Farmer says scientists at the Center are working on both treatments and a cure.
