Two busloads of about 100 Missourians, mostly farmers belonging the State Farm Bureau, make the long trip to Omaha today to address the Army Corps of Engineers and a stakeholders group of interests along the Missouri River. The Bureau’s Garrett Hawkins says they’ll be making their case that they don’t want a manmade spring flood, known as a spring rise, next year. Hawkins says each group will get about three minutes to make its stance known during a public comment period. He hopes they can win over enough members of the stakeholders group to persuade the group to recommend against the spring rise, although Hawkins admits the Corps already has the green light to produce a spring rise through its master manual.
