An inmate who walked off a work release crew from the Licking prison is back in custody. The State Corrections Department reports prison officials captured inmate Samuel Nelson on Highway 17 in Crocker, not far from where his crew had been working. Nelson didn’t quite get a full day of freedom. He walked off the crew working just north of Crocker in Pulaski County around 9:30 Tuesday morning. He was back in custody at around 3am Wednesday morning. Nelsonhad served about half of a five-year sentence for passing bad checks. He faces the possibility of more prison time, because of the escape.
