Earlier this week, funeral services were held for Missouri football player Aaron O’Neal, who died unexpectedly at a conditioning workout at Faurot Field last week. On Thursday, a public memorial service will be held at the Mizzou Arena on the University of Missouri Campus.

Why O’Neal, who was 19, died is still a mystery. An initial autopsy simply ruled out infectious disease, foul play and trauma. Tests on O’Neal’s brain and heart are being done and a toxicology test is also being conducted. Those results could take another 5-7 weeks to return.

Yesterday, the voluntary workouts resumed.

The service will begin at around 11 AM. A memorial fund in O’Neal’s name has been set up by his family. Contributions should be made to: The Aaron O’Neal Memorial Fund, c/o U.S. Bank, 12375 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, Mo. 63044.
