One of the great enterprises on the fur-trading frontier was the Rocky Mountain Fur Company, created in 1832 when William Sublette and Robert Campbell went into partnership. Both of these men were, and would be, prominent figures in our state’s early hisory. There was, however, more than a contract, more than a corporate organization, that bound them together. A substantial part of their partnership stemmed from an incident far away, in Idaho.
