A recent meeting in Massachusetts could determine the political future of a Missouri Democrat. State Auditor Claire McCaskill acknowledges prominent national Democrats talked to her about running against Republican Senator Jim Talent in 2006 during that meeting. McCaskill insists she has not made up her mind, yet. She also says she has desires to run again for governor as well. Governor Matt Blunt beat her in 2004. McCaskill says there are some real family issues to look at when considering any kind of run for public office. McCaskill also concedes she’s worried national Democrats might not be able to give her the money the senate race will require. She promises to decide what she’ll do by Labor Day.
